ABOUT THE ARTWORK
An urban still life. This piece is taken from a product shoot for a Redfern hip-hop bar, featuring a styled scene of native flowers, a vintage microphone and a copper mule cup. Set against a background of their graffiti-style wall mural, I love the contemporary take on still-life. I was drawn to the lighting, the strong composition with really striking perspective lines created by the textures of the table. I wanted to lean onto that style by mirroring the tag style in the mural, but play on the free, expressive lines with the posca layering.
Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name of the photographer who took the reference photo! If anyone knows, I'd love to credit them!
